Three percentage tools in one page — percent of, percent of a total, and percent change.
Multiply the number by the percentage and divide by 100. For example, 15% of 240 = 240 × 15 ÷ 100 = 36. A shortcut: dividing by 100 first (240 × 0.15) gives the same answer.
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value, then multiply by 100. From 80 to 100: (100 − 80) ÷ 80 × 100 = +25%. A negative result means the value decreased.
A change from 4% to 5% is an increase of 1 percentage point, but a 25% relative increase (because 1 is 25% of 4). News and financial reports often mix these up — this calculator works in relative percent change.
